The Obvious- or is it?

I want to talk about one of my favorite blogs tonight. Its written by a chap who seems to struggle with the idea that he and I could have anything in common. He speaks a lot in his blog about blogging bringing people together and causing us to re-examine things. But it seems I am not one of those people he wants to be brought close to!

The Obvious? is written by a man who is clearly interested in what you might call spirtual questions. Take his tagline quote for example

"All day I think about it,
then at night I say it.
Where did I come from, and
what am I supposed to be doing?
I have no idea.
My soul is from elsewhere,
I'm sure of that,
and I intend to end up there"

But he has made it quite clear to me in private emails that he does not see himself and myself at all connected. Its a shame really as he is clearly a great thinker and posts links to some of the most thought provoking blogs in the blogosphere.

I truly love his blog, and often cite it here- much I fear to his less than enthusiastic reception. And yet, he often cites other Christian's blogs.

Anyway, I thought I'd test a theory of mine, and so I included him in The Blogdom of God. which is billed as a Christian weblog aggregator (although I do state there may be a couple of blogs in there 'for interest'.) Perhaps I should have asked him first, but I didn't (-sorry Euan!).

In a matter of a couple of days I had an email requesting I withdraw him from the aggregator. Of course I removed him straight away. Now just maybe he didn't like the idea of being in someone elses aggregated web page. Fair enough if that was the case.

But somehow, I think there is something more to it than that. My image of him is of a man both fascinated and intensely irritated by what he sees of the Church and Christians. Funnily enough, Euan if you but realised it you would know that I feel fascinated and irritated by much of what I see of the church and Christians too! (Now theres a confession from a preacher!)

Since this is a public statement, I will copy it to him by email and see where we go with this, if anywhere.
