BBC NEWS reports that experts are finally recognising that the only way to control AIDS and other sexually transmitted diseases is to reduce the number of sexual partners and encourage faithfullness. Funny that the bible advocated this over 2000 years ago!

Lets hope people actually try and implement what they are calling the ABC of Sexual health strategy

Abstinence or delay of sexual activity
Be faithful and reduce partner numbers

Why is it Good friday?

Gary Petersen quotes another site as saying : "Satan rejoiced, demons did cartwheels, at the sight of a stone cold Jesus in a death-chilled tomb. They queued for a glimpse of Christ the Saviour clasped in death's bondage, now Christ the Corpse."

I couldnt disagree MORE with the above quote. Jesus was not in defeat when he died. His death itself was a victory and when he cried 'It is finished' the Devil knew it was over for him. When the temple curtain was torn in two and the people raised from the dead, Jesus had won!!!! Remember he went straight to heaven to glorious victory. 'Today you will be with me in paradise' he said to the theif on the cross.

Do not think that the devil won on the cross, he lost- it was his worst moment. One of my favorite moments in the film the Passion of the christ is when the devil is suffering in a pit immediately after Jesus death. If you want to learn more about the meaning of the cross listen to my sermon on the passion of Christ.

Better off under Sadaam?

One Hand Clapping demolishes Hans Blix for apparently saying that the Iraqis were better off under Saddam Hussein than they are under the Americans today. HAns was quoted as saying 'What's positive is that Saddam and his bloody regime is gone, but when figuring out the score, the negatives weigh more,' " Lets just say One Hand Clapping doesnt quite see it that way!!!!!

A Passion for the church

Regular readers of this blog will know that I am passionate about the church. I have given many of the best years of my life to participating actively in churches which aim to restore the church to how it was designed to be.

Recently we have been preaching Sermons from Nehemiah at Jubilee Church which aim to promote this restoration in the church. Audio files of these are available free online. A few weeks ago in the series, Tope Koleoso highlighted the importance of us learning from the rebuilding of the walls the need for us to redefine the church. Anyone who is skeptical about the role of the church ought to listen to that sermon.

In what is possibly a first on the internet, my own sermon from last Sunday-available now online- mentioned blogging. It is now possible to hear online a blogger preaching in the real world about the fact that blogging will not replace preaching. The sermon was entitled 'Nehemiah 8- A passion for preaching' and could have been subtitled 'Why I am obsessed with preaching.' One of the things I said was: 'If you watch the Passion but dont have a preacher to explain it to you it won't help you' If you have watched the Passion, and want to listen to an explanation of the real meaning behind Jesus death, my previous sermon was entitled 'A mothers pain, the worlds gain' and may be of some interest to you this Easter.

I hope this is true......

Country Keepers report on an email that claims that in Muslim states many many people are watching the Passion. The post sounds very interesting- I just wish it was easy to be clear that the sources are genuine for this kind of story. I will email Gary and post any further confirmation here.

Money can't buy everything.....

terreus: reports "Thirty years to the day after ABBA won the Eurovision song contest with Waterloo the bearded Ulvaeus is fiercely proud of its music but the group will never strut its stuff again. Four years ago, ABBA was offered $1 billion to reunite. The answer was 'No.' But what if that figure doubled? No, not even if you did that,Ulvaeus told Reuters"

A trauma 43 years on.....

Tick Talk comments on her own poem:

"hide your pain little girl
gather it up into your hands
hold it tight
put it here for the night"

Ive been interviewed.....

Army of One says I am "interesting and informative." and then interviews me. Theres a first for everything......
