Tsunami preaching

Just noticed my pastors sermon responding to the Tsunamis is now online. I remember that one criticism of some churches after 9/11 was that they did not respond to the disaster appropriately. I was quite surprised to note on a couple of church websites that put their audio sermons online that some preachers do not appear to have modified their preaching plans following 26/12. I would find it hard to believe that any churches failed to mark the event in some way last Sunday and no doubt if a church was doing a preaching series the preacher may have addressed the event in passing. But, even the Doctor (Martyn-Lloyd Jones) who often spent years in preaching through a book of the bible was a believer in flexibility when appropriate. So, I for one was not only glad I wasn't preaching but also glad that my pastor decided to address the issue head on in his preach "Tsunamis and the sovereignty of God". Just follow the link at the top of this page to our online sermon web page and you can listen to it for free.

This sunday we have a visitor preaching and then the following one I will be preaching God willing on Ananias and Sapphira which will not be an easy sermon to prepare or preach. Its one of those passages you pobably wouldnt choose to preach on unless you are going through a book. I did tackle aspects of it in my sermon on generosity just before Christmas but at the time was glad Tope would pick it up when we got back. The Tsunami has put pay to that. Actually though I have great faith welling up in me about this forthcoming sermon. I remember that once before I was the one who drew the short straw being down to preach on meekness. Preparing that sermon probably had the most impact on me personally of any sermon I have preached so far.
If you are a Christian, please pray for a similar impact on me and others from this next sermon that I am now going to begin to think about.
