It seems as if Tony Blair does begin a historic third term as labour prime minister it is possible he may be saved by the French! It is not clear if Blair is relishing another challenging electoral battle to support the European constitution in a referendum,but the French may make it unecessary.

In an amazing turn of events it seems Chirac may possibly lose the French referendum, thereby killing the treaty for the new constitution dead in the water. What is it that has turned the normally europhille French around so suddenly? Or is it just another case of opinion polls being misleading (perhaps someone can share the betting odds on this contest for us!)
