God's Will and the fruit of the Spirit.

God's Will and the fruit of the Spirit. August 13, 2005

Good morning, I know for some of you it’s good afternoon. The blogosphere is a little slow this morning, well, except for politics.

One story I want to highlight is at The Christian Mind and is about learning the Will of God for our lives. Jollyblogger also highlights it and has some additional thoughts.

Question for discussion: Does anyone ever get concerned with God’s Will when it comes to blogging?

I’m studying and writing this morning so I will leave you with the passage that I am working on for the Galatians blogging challenge. I think this ties in with living God’s Will.

If we strive to live the fruit of the Spirit, it doesn’t matter what we do as a vocation but that we are exhibiting God’s presence within us. Living the fruit helps us show God’s amazing attributes to non-believers which helps us fulfill the “Great Commission”. In our culture we are told to do something with our lives, that we have to be successful and that’s why so many struggle with doing God’s Will. So many want God to hold a career fair and tell them what they should do, when he tells us so often throughout the Bible:
“Live this way so others can see Me and want to know Me personally and become disciples.”

Galatians 5:16-26

16 But I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh. 17 For the desires of the flesh are against the Spirit, and the desires of the Spirit are against the flesh, for these are opposed to each other, to keep you from doing the things you want to do. 18 But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the law. 19 Now the works of the flesh are evident: sexual immorality, impurity, sensuality, 20 idolatry, sorcery, enmity, strife, jealousy, fits of anger, rivalries, dissensions, divisions, 21 envy, [1] drunkenness, orgies, and things like these. I warn you, as I warned you before, that those who do such things will not inherit the kingdom of God. 22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law. 24 And those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires.

25 If we live by the Spirit, let us also walk by the Spirit. 26 Let us not become conceited, provoking one another, envying one another.

I’ll be back later. Have a great Saturday everyone!
Cadmus
