Hello everyone. Let me introduce myself. Labels: Personal
My name is David Routledge, and I am counted as blessed to be first a friend of Adrians, and second to have been invited to be a guest blogger whilst he is on his family holiday. I feel I must point out that I do not have as much theological knowledge as my humble friend, nor am I as mature in Christ as he is; so I am grateful to accept his gracious invitation and will endeavour to uphold the values of this site and will do my best not to disappoint the trust he has placed in me. I am probably best described as a blogger without portfolio. I will take this opportunity to publicly thank Adrian for his prayers, wisdom and love for, and towards myself and my family over the years, not forgetting his non-judgemental attitude and patience. I would also like to thank Andree and the children for being such a wonderful blessing to our church.
Whilst reading the comments posted on this site I was struck by the amount of knowledge and the gentle spirit in which they are written. I also noticed that you like a challenge!
So for my first ever attempt at blogging, here is the following challenge.
Does the way that most churches are structured, e.g. meeting on Sundays for about 2 hours, which include worship, preaching, ministry time and social fellowship; enhance or limit our Christian experience? What biblical evidence is there to support this current structure? I.e. What evidence is there to support preaching sermons other than the gospel?
Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to devise a church structure and your only reference point is the bible (cast aside all previous knowledge of church history and personal experience), that would best reflect the bible and enable us to make the most of our Christian walk.
I hope this is of interest to you and that you find it a worthwhile exercise. I look forward to reading your comments
God bless
David
