As Jeremy reports, Hugh Hewitt has made a classic mistake! Like everyone else (including me and Challies!) he simply cannot wait until the Together for the Gospel people release their own official version of their articles of doctrinal agreement - I can't blame him, of course! But in his hurry, he lifts the text from Jeremy's blog and misreads the footer to the text Jeremy had typed up. Hewitt's blog still states:

'J. Ligon Duncan III, Mark E. Dever, C. J. Mahaney, R. Albert Mohler, Jr., John MacArthur, John Piper, R. C. Sproul, and Jeremy S. Haywood are eight very serious, very widely admired Protestant theologians who have been spending some time together working through some important issues with their common faith.'

Jeremy is, not surprisingly, anxious to point out the reason for the error: "The list of names is directly quoted from my original blog entry. Immediately after the list of signers, I stated that, 'Of course, I did not actually sign this, but I wanted to make my support of these articles clear, and if given the opportunity, I would gladly sign a document stating these things.' I did this only to emphasize my own personal support of the document on my blog, and I have since taken my name off of the 'Signed' section to prevent any further confusion. I sincerely apologize for any confusion that this has caused. I am definitely not a 'very widely admired Protestant theologian,' and I would never take credit for the writing of a document, or the planning of a conference that I had nothing to do with, aside from attending it. I have great respect for the men who planned this conference and would never take credit for their work. Please spread the word to anyone who might be confused about this."
