Part 2 of Phil Johnson’s series on Justification by Faith. “It’s quite popular in some circles to deny that ‘justification by faith’ is the heart of the Gospel.” But Luther called it the doctrine by which the Church stands or falls.

In the second part of his two-part series, Pastor Lars Larson considers some of the forces which make the matter of discernment a pre-eminent concern, including society and theological traditions.

“There is ‘letter of the law’ biblical and there is ‘Gospel’ biblical … ‘the book is public so the critique may be public’ sounds like a lawyer speaking … technically true, but I think Gospel requirements exceed the law.”
