This special report on the Warnie Awards comes from Washington. Our investigator has been in the city trying to establish the reason for the high level of quality Christian blogging which seems to emanate from that area.Following the exclusive post concerning
theodoping revealed on Challies’ blog, the Warnie Award organisation wanted to be sure there was no foul play before awarding a clutch of Warnies to some of Washington’s finest bloggers. A series of allegations which have emerged in the past have now been satisfactorily refuted, following our undercover investigation.
The first allegation that came to our attention was that David Wayne and Adrian Warnock were, in fact, the same person. Photographic evidence has now demonstrated that is not true. Accordingly, the Jollyblogger is hereby awarded a long-overdue Warnie! There was also a rumour that — far from being a blogger most known for his prolonged absences and refusals to answer questions over on the Together for the Gospel Blog — C.J. Mahaney was himself personally responsible for the content of a clutch of blogs that flood out of the Covenant Life Church area.
Our investigations have firmly established that C.J. is clearly far too busy evaluating books to have produced such an enormous amount of blog content. C.J. has, in fact, disappeared in his office and was last seen buried under the pile of books he was reading
whilst clutching a set of keys to his church’s bookshop.Furthermore, we have established the true identity of a number of the authors of these outstanding blogs. Random theodope testing (clandestinely carried out by our operatives) has revealed no abnormalities.
Now that all allegations have been cleared, a backlog of Warnie Awards can finally be released – secrecy concerns prevented any previous explanations as to why these blogs had not yet received a Warnie! As a result of that, this evening’s Warnie Awards bring you an unprecedented and historic clutch of awards the number of which will almost certainly never be repeated in one award ceremony again.
You will notice that several of these blogs are carefully targeted at different ages and stages of life. From now on, you will get “something for everyone” right here in the Warnie Winners headline box. So be sure you keep coming back at least once-a-day to stay up-to-date!
The Warnie winners below now have the right (but not the obligation!) to display the “Winners Stamp” on their blog, and in the past winners have sometimes posted an “acceptance speech” on their own blog … enjoy!
Today’s winners are:
- Jollyblogger
David Wayne should need no introduction as one of America’s best known Presbyterian bloggers. - Worship Matters

Well there we have it — a clutch of winners! I’m sure you will all agree they are very worthy winners — every one of them!

Hi! This is the other half of Adrian (otherwise known as his wife, Andree).
Adrian has spent years trying to encourage me to make contributions to his blog, and I have spent years feeling too busy to be able to do any blogging! But a recent turn of events has meant that I finally have time to put down my thoughts and musings!!
Adrian, together with our pastor, Tope, recently had the privilege of visiting Covenant Life Church in Gaithersburg. They said that they had a great time and were so touched by the friendship and kindness extended to them. But little did the people in Washington know that I, too, have been blessed by their kindness.
While there, Adrian was given a fantastic CD – Valley of Vision. As I was just listening to it, I was going through the lyrics that came with the CD. Music is such a powerful way of conveying God’s truth. No wonder the angels are constantly singing in heaven!
Earlier today, I read a quote in C.J. Mahaney’s book on humility, and it came to mind as I listened to these songs. Martyn Lloyd-Jones asked:
“Have you realised that most of your unhappiness in life is due to the fact that you are listening to yourself instead of talking to yourself?”
I realised that there is a sharp contrast between the words of these songs (inspired by the classic book of Puritan prayers) and those of many songs written today. Many songs – especially contemporary pop songs – consist of the writer listening to his or her own thoughts. The lyrics on this album are totally ‘talking to yourself’ (or preaching to yourself!)
Here are some favourite quotes from the lyrics of three different songs:
You were broken that I might be healed
You were cast off that I might draw near
You were thirsty that I might come drink
Cried out in anguish that I might sing.
In You alone my strength is found
In You alone my hope abounds
In You alone my strength is found
My life is bound up in You.
Oh, the precious blood
That flowed from Mercy’s side
Washed away my sin
When Christ my saviour died
Oh, the precious blood
Of Christ the crucified,
It speaks for me before Your throne
Where I stand justified.
I highly recommend this album. It is not sentimental, it is totally God-centred, and is focused on the very heart of Christianity. It is filled with the glory of God, the sacrifice of Jesus, and our dependence on Him. Inspired music to me seems to have a way of softening the heart and enabling it to more readily receive the truth of what is heard and sung. May there be more songs written like these!
