Blogging for Iraq - whatever your views on the war

This holiday season, what are you thankful for?

Are you thankful that you are alive ? That you live in a free democratic nation? That the soil of your nation hasn't known war in your lifetime? That you have work? A family?

Or maybe you are thankful for blogging and the outlet it gives you for those values of freedom and self-expression that we all too often take for granted. I know for me the interactions I have enjoyed with so many of you through blogging have enriched my life. I am so thankful also for the way the Blogdom of God and its daughter aggregators as well as the Christian Carnival have all brought God bloggers together and for many of us increased our traffic, readers and therby our sense of interaction with the outside world. The revolution blogging brings is more and more influenced by the God bloggers as a result.

The Blogdom of God has much to thank the blogger known as NZ Bear for. His ecosystem is the engine behind the Blogdom of God blogroll. So when, almost exactly a year after I asked him to set up the Blogdom of God he asked me to help the friends of Iraq I immediately knew I had to look into it.

The NZ Bear has asked us "Would you be willing to throw the weight of the BoG behind the EcoTeam and help out in the cause? I'd love to see you endorse the EcoTeam as the official BoG team. I think this would be a great project to put your increasingly vast membership to work for a fine cause."

Irrespective of your view on the war, we can all agree on one thing. This holiday season the people of Iraq do not share many of the things I listed above that we can all be thankful for. Why not give a little money to help the Iraqi's realise that the rest of the world want their nation to make it and become a stable and propserous part of the world's community of nations. Friends of Iraq is endorsed by everyone from Hugh Hewitt to Dan Gillmor.

Its great that the Blogdom of God is increasingly seen as a powerful force within the blogosphere- we really are together much more than we could be apart. I for one am for this latest project- and would incourage any of our member blogs or those who are just passing through to join this fundraising challenge.

The whole thing will take you a few minutes of your time, and cost you a few hard-earnt pounds but is really incredibly simple. You will have the joy of knowing you are helping the people of Iraq. If that was not enough, you will also get free web promotion here and at the ecosystem- your blog will be listed ABOVE instapundit!

So, now you are convinced, what do you need to do? To join the Blogdom of God Friends of Iraq challenge all you need to do is the following:-

If you don't have a blog why not give yourself a present and start your own blog for free in minutes. If you really don't want a blog but want to give to the people of Iraq in any case please feel free to donate as much as you want!
