Churches characterised by faithfulness to the Lord and steadfast determination change the world May 23, 2005

“he exhorted them all to remain faithful to the Lord with steadfast purpose” Acts 11:22

It is indeed true that the Christian walk is not a sprint but a marathon. The bible clearly anticipates that believers will persevere to the end. I want to see a robust faith in God that clings to him throught all that life has to throw at us. I am no believer in “easy believism” and am convinced that it is the same faith that we begin with that we must continue with throughout our christian walk. I should be depending on Christ for my sins to be forgiven and for my approval rating with God to be raised. I should be relying on his energy to transform me. I should be trusting that he is looking out for me, and I should be determined not to let doubt get ahold of me.

Changing the world requires grit and determination. It needs stickability. It will never happen with insipid passive pew-warming Christianity. Even in a large church, every member really does count far more than we realise.

Dont ask what can the church do for me, ask what can I do for the church. Make sure you are part of the solution and not part of the problem. If you cant persevere wholeheartedly where you are find another church which will inspire you to follow Christ fully.
